Looks great Jim! It will be interesting to see what kind of bracing you use, if any. Even massive steel beams are flexible, and at this point, I'm sure it feels like a giant diving board.

Yeow; that's some kinda cantilever. I love the design. A couple of quick ?'s
...have you sighted the beams from the end and noted any perceptible deflection?
...have you snuck out to the end and given it a little bounce test?
...what size I-beams are they?

This is very cool and interesting project. Thanks for sharing and the documentation. I know it looks like an eye sore now, but when were done the bridge, deck and cement pillars should blend into the back ground. We have a 2� sag from the pillars to the end of the deck, we still have to get a positive camber at the end and weld in two kickers back to the pillars�.its going to be rock solid when were done and still have 20� cantilevered out. The I beams are 10� At sunset I grabbed a beer and cigar and snuck out to the end, it was bouncy but I sat down and enjoyed the view.�kinda felt good seeing another dream come true.

That's awesome Jim. Is the water deep enough at the end to dive in?
Also I was once told when they build mobile homes they run a hot weld beed along the top of the I beam. This apparently bows the beam upper like a banna, another words it's preloaded. Then when they build the home on it sags to level position under the load or weight. Don't know maybe something you could use here.

Jim, the whole thing looks awesome. You can be described as "high speed, low drag" with regard to how fast you moved on the idea/project.
The Pond Gods do speak to a lot of us, however, on occasion, they have been known to blow a lot of hot air!

Have you thought about driving some beams straight down and weld to them near the end? It seems that steel is not an issue.  Possibly you could make some modified sputnik structures. Brettski can fill you in with details.
