Burger,I wouldn't be concerned about words not in common usage and I wouldn't bother to look them up. Some of the great minds use and used only simple words but put them together in a special way. For example, ... "that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain - that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom - and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth" (A. Lincoln). Count them; you'll find only one word over two syllables. And you certainly won't find "nefarious". Best to keep it simple, don't you think?
