I get this question quite often and I would like to get some input and observations from you the pondboss experts:
If the air temperature is 90 degrees outside in the summer and I am aerating my pond with a compressor 24/7. Will the warm air heat up the pond?

To be more technical, let�s suppose this theoretical pond is 12 feet deep, is normally stratified in summer and is about 3 acres wide. The bottom diffusers are in the deepest part of the pond.


My guess is that the pond will not be stratified anymore, bottom temp will be warmer and surface will be cooler, overall general temp may be cooler and richer in oxygen. This question relates to a pond where raising trout is the objective. As you know the limiting factor is temperature.

Anybody out there monitoring water temp in ponds with aeration?
