Well I went to one of the nearby interstate ponds looking for some yp eggs that was described in another post. So I'm looking for what looks like toilet paper in the water around brush and limbs. Well I found about 30 white plastic bags 5 or 6 ziplock bags 3 diapers and neumerious other trash!! I was shocked on all the crap in public ponds. Im glad mine is not open to the public! (Everything I found I put in a bucket in my truck and took it home to my trash containers.) I was not sure if I missed the spawn or it's not here yet. Its been kinda chilly here so it might not be warm enough. there used to be a lot of yp in this pond about 10yrs ago. but saw no sign of anything but trash and couple of BG. Any thing else I should be looking for? Sorry for the long rant but I was Pissed about the amount of trash i found thanks Gene

Try scuba diving! You'll find out you're only seeing the tip of the iceberg!
When I fished public lakes (dont' do it much anymore because they're overcrowded here) I would bring a garbage bag with me and clean up the public access. I found it amazing how many people were too lazy to walk a few feet and put their garbage in the garbage can that was provided. And some anglers are the worst offenders!
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Perhaps in time the perch will adapt; think what great camouflage it would be if their egg strings looked like diapers, ziplock bags, plastic sacks, and coffee cups instead of just TP.

Gene -- I suspect you may have missed the spawn. Our yellow perch spawning peak around here (east-central SD) was probably last weekend. Also, in many years, the spawn may only last a few days.

This may help with YP egg strands and fertile eggs. Fertile eggs Strands in water Strands out of water

Gene, I would suspect you missed it. Our peak in western Nebraska was last week.

Not to bad for going through 4 feet of water and using a cell phone. The eggs are in the exact middle of photo wrapped around some sunken branches.
