Many common anglers catch the 6"-9" perch in lakes, reservoirs, ponds. When they catch some perch 9"-11" they resort to using the term jumbo perch because to them the larger perch are jumbo compared to what they often catch. Local regions of the country may also have slightly different standards for Jumbo perch. Some yellow perch strains in some parts of the US do not get as large as the faster growing and larger strains. Diehard perch anglers who persue large perch typically use the definition I used above for Jumbo perch. Jalopy perch is a relatively new term for the Trophy class of yellow perch.
