Interesting information, Eric. I can understand why you wouldn't want to mess with a fish like you describe. Since this thread is about geographical differences wrt to fish, our saltwater "ling," also called Cobia, is a lean, hard-fighting fish that is great to eat. They can be found in bays but are usually offshore. Here are a few sites...the second one is not as scientific, but it best captures my views about the fish.
