While still fresh on my mind I want to review the Pellet Fly for those that I failed to spend enough time at the PB Conference.
First of all I did not originate this fly.
I stole the idea from Greg Grimes, Cecil Baird and Bruce Condello.
Greg made his by carving a piece of cork glued to a hook.
Takes too long to make and self-destructs easily.
Cecil wraps real pellets with panty hose.
Gets squishy and doesn�t last long enough.
Bruce�s PomPom is too large and sinks like a rock.
OK, the synergy is 3 x 1 = 10 when combining their ideas into a foam fly, covered with panty hose - quick and easy to tie and will last all day long�!

Pellet Fly
MATERIALS:
1. Wide gape, short shank hooks.
2. Discarded panty hose
3. Closed cell craft store foam.
4. Super Glue
5. Nylon thread and bobbin (available at Academy fly section.
6. Section of thin wall tubing or segment of broken rod � sharpened on one end by rotating against course sandpaper.
7. Scissors
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.�Punch- out� the disks with a section of old graphite fishing rod, of desired diameter, sharpen the end by rotaing against course sand paper, rotate and punch foam to make disc.
A single hole paper punch works for smaller pellet flies.
2. Encase in ph material tightly and wrap thread a few times and tie-off with a few half hitches.
3. Cut off material, leaving surplus as illustrated.
4. Run hook through nylon (catch a �tad� of foam; not necessary but makes fly practically indestructible).
5. Super glue tag end of nylon material. Let dry, trim and re-apply superglue (see illustration.)
