Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations Trip to my pond with pics

Today was the first time that we have fished our pond since it filled last year. We were fishing with nightcrawlers on very light tackle(6lb line). I caught the first fish a bluegill. Then all of a sudden i hear my wifes drag singing and the fight was on she caught a 6.5lb cat not to shabby. Here are few pics of my fish and her bent pole and of course her catfish.



Here is a redfish i caught last week at the jetties.

Hey wicked...your water looks pretty muddy like mine. I think our ponds were dug about the same time if I recall. I remember being envious when yours filled with all the rain you had last year. I've just posted another post about stocking bluegill and catfish in muddy water, but yours seem to be doing well. How much visibility do you have? Have those fish grown since you stocked them? Do you feed?

i'm REALLY impressed at how long you were able to keep from fishin it wicked......nice fish all the way around. how many pounds was the redfish?

notice the light coloration on the BG.....i take it this is pretty typical for fish living in muddy water?

Poland_jack i have no visibility at all. I do feed them twice a day. I have limed my pond and sometimes it seems to clear up a little then it rains or its windy and it gets muddy again. I just planted grass around my pond so i hope that will help with the muddy runoff. DIED the redfish was 25 pounds, i have been trying to fish my pond some more but its so windy here it makes it hard to fish.

Yeah, for some reason, lack of sunlight penetration causes loss of pigmentation in the fish. It's temporary.

That's a big cat man. How big were they when you stocked them, and when did you stock them?

Bobad, i put them in a year ago and they were 10-12 inches.

Noticed that the redfish pic was in the LC American Press this week too.
