Now get me a beer and put supper on the table as soon as you're finished with the laundry.

Then sit right down and tell me why you're leaving me.
\:D You guys are clever. Are any of you actually married? :rolleyes:Donna, we all know that you have Brettski's password and read all the posts. Please forgive them. They know you didn't just fall off the cabbage truck.

Pam-dry just told me that since I couldn't play nice, I couldn't play at all, and to not even think of using this computer for a week. Gotta go - she's calling for me to get her a coke.

Brettski didn't just fall off either; notice he's been hands-off this thread since the divorce lawyer-enhancing advice started. \:D

OK, here's the "nuclear option"

Tell her that you need to stock some fish, and they're going to cost $25,000. Of course you then settle on what you really need, and she is greatly relieved and appreciative that you sacrificed for her.

Had you only spend $50 bucks or so several weeks back on some fatheads, you could play the "Honey, these fish are depending on us" card.

Just kidding, Brettski. I know you're real good at self-rationalization, so you'll be fine.

I'm sure you have a sad "puppy-dog" look that you can throw on Donna to melt her down.

I almost jumped back in when Dudley offered his sage advice, then closed my eyes and practiced the delivery. If Dudley can do it, by golly, so can I.
 Quote:
See here, Donna, I've tried to be to be thoughtful in allowing you to express your opinion, but since your opinion conflicts with mine, you are no longer allowed an opinion. In the future I will make all the decisions in this family, and you will do as I say. Now get me a beer and put supper on the table as soon as you're finished with the laundry.
I've never met Dudley, nor seen a picture of him, but my mind's eye kept playing this guy sitting in a sky blue caddy with fishing poles hanging outta the trunk. He's dripping in bling, wearing a fur coat in July, all topped with a red velvet fidora with a long feather slipped in the hat band. I don't how he does it, but man...can this guy handle women!
Besides, I look lousy in fur.

When I re-opened my eyes, I realized that Dudley had only the best intentions, acting as the motivational speaker that this type of situation begs for.

B-ski be carefull, remember one of your main goals was not to have shared ownership on your pond. Your 5 acre pond might turn into a 2.5 acre pond and you'll end up with the shallow end.

Try this in stead. My Don-ski always disagrees with things I tell her but if it's one of her Girl friends that tells her the same thing well it must be Gospel.

You tell her that her best friend said that you should finish with all these projects as soon as you can it the most economical approach because time is money.

I thought that philosophy was unique to my wife.

I need to stock my fish in the next 2-3 weeks. When I get a price, if she balks I'll just ask her if she wants to fish or not. If she wants to play, she's gotta pay.

Brettski I am disappointed that you blew off my advice, the Brettski Mind Right & Donna-ski Ring Tone solution. \:\(

It appeared, for a day or so, you had taken that sage advice and that you and Donna-ski had reached a level of synchronicity.

I return today to find you have diverged into considering all manner of ill-advised spousal trickery and guilt manipulation. Most of that stuff hasnt worked since the days of June(The Beavers mom) Cleaver!

As Sunil so aptly said:
 Quote:

He forgot to mention the part about eating a steady diet of government cheese which pretty much follows or precedes that living in a van down by the river scenario. :p

Don't ever, ever, believe anything Dudley says. Don't err and say "Just this once". Dud is evil and will tempt you into drinking spiritous libations. Something like Sunil.

Dave I don't know about that. Right after Bob's house burned Dudley had great advice . He said (paraphrase) All the sympathy talk is great but if you really want to help send Bob a check. Sound advice from a great guy. \:\)

Condolences are fine, but a check, however small, would help more. My pittance goes in to the Pond Boss office tomorrow.
So sorry about your loss, Bob.

Try this Brettski:

It's springtime; the birds are singing, the trees are budding, the little squirrels are coming out of hibernation; but not a fish one is a jumpin in our little pond. :p

PFF where you been ? Now you have to catch back up.

I like that approach as it works on their nesting instinct.

Eric, I believe that Dudley found himself in a rare mode of seriousness. And, I'm sure that he doesn't regret that.

However, on any average, normal, run of the mill day, Dud will turn you inside out. I'm still about half off base from an E-Mail he sent me 3 or 4 months ago. He still has me confused and that was his intent. The problem is that he didn't even have to work to set the trap that I blundered and kinda slid into. Dang, that guy has a malevolent sense of humor. Yep, Dud is evil.

As per our prior conversations I think Dudley has your #. He just reaches over and jerks your chain and you get tied in knots. That's not evil. \:D ;\)

Brettski, you need to remind her that without any fish in the pond there won't be any king fishers, blue/green herons, or commorants stopping by to visit. ;\)

Yeah Ski, tell her that a water hole without fish is an abomination.

It's just kinda empty and nature abhors a vacuum. Yeah, that's it, it's un-nature-al.

Whatever you do, don't tell her that you wear the pants in the family and will make the final decision. That can hurt.

i consulted my wife on the subject, and she said a pond without fish, is, well, like a pond without fish.

but dont worry about buying the fish brettski, birds will carry in fertilized GSF eggs, and by mid-summer you'll have thousands of fingerlings and be a proud GSF papa like me and jeff \:D \:D

Brettski, dont' worry about it, Man!

Remember I told you that I took things into my own hands and put fatheads in your pond when you had just a few feet of water?

Problem is that when I was there, I saw Ole' Mudcat Joe hiding behind a tree giggling.

So you've got fatheads and bullheads.

Cheer up!!!!

Brettski...you're going about this all wrong ! You MUST have the funding for your fish, they are an asset on the Ledger ! Do you realize there are thousands of dollars worth of fish in your water ? Just break out the calculator like I did...100 catfish at 4 lbs each @ 1.89 per lb. 3-5 lb. LMB, $40 each, 2.5 lb. HSB $20 each, crappie/bgill - $1.00 for 3-5". I used those numbers assessing the value of my property...now add in $1 for a 16 oz. bottle of water, 5 acres, lol, instant millionaire !!!!
