Yeah, -5F here...and I fell on my arse coming down the porch steps this AM. I hate it when the wife's right..."honey, can you scrape the ice off the steps..."

My response..."it's cold, let me do that after work tomorrow..."

Matt Clark - Hopefully only your pride was injured!

Get yourself a few pair of these and you won't have that problem again! I keep a set in my burb, in the house and in the shop. Cheap and work great!

Thanks for the wonderful news. Your bad weather is my good fortune. The ducks will be coming down this way maybe, finally. It has been unreal hot 73 on Sunday felt like April. Finally cooling off b/c woke up to balmy 58 this morning. Just got back from trout run and truck now says 36 degrees. Can't wait to hunt ducks this weekend.

-21 I can not even imagine that pain.

Snow or Oobleck, it's not something the Austin weatherman had seen before. \:D

I had to look that up and Im amazed. An Ohio guy can figure out what texas weather guys brains are made of "on the fly".On the other hand next week it will be back up in the 60 70s and he will be right on target again.Watcch our weather this summer for the ultimate cold fronts in aug, sept when the COLD fronts come through and we go from 110 to 109 overnight, its a real shocker

Send that cold here will ya! Not cold enough yet to make ice fast enough for me although i won't be going out for a little while with walking pneumonia. Here we may only get up to the 20's to low 30's during the day but it hasn't dropped below the teens yet at night. We need single digits to consistently make one inch per day to reach the magic 3 inch mark. 4 inches would be even better. No snow on the ground here either.

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil Baird1 - I would be happy to send you a nice solid six inch layer of ice for your ice fishing enjoyment.

Shipping ice to Indiana is like shipping water to Texas. I haven't figured out how actually do it. \:\)

Oh that's easy. Cut it apart like a jigsaw puzzle and load it on a flat bed. I need about 150 by 200 feet in an oval shape. Then when I get it we will unload it and place on the pond. The freezing we ARE getting should freeze the pieces together! Noooooooo Problem!

Over the past two nights, the thermometer has tickled the low double digits for the first time this winter. The BG pond has a crystal clear one inch layer of ice, best I've seen in a while.

We got down to 12 or 13 Tuesday night, with very little wind, but even the small, shallow ponds around me were still ice-free yesterday. The 5 days of 50 degree rain we had before the cold snap warmed things up some.

It was about 22 this morning. I'll have to see if any ponds here are frozen after work today.

Although I can't compete with the temperatures that you folks are posting we are getting some cold temps here in California.

It actually snowed in Malibu, California. (that's actually true).

Britney Spears has stated that she is going to complain to Governor Arnold about global colding. \:D

It's starting to warm up here in NE, it was 22 degrees out this morning when I got up. \:\)

Even with days of cold temperatures ice conditions will be a little iffy for fishing, 1-2" of snow have really slowed ice making down at area lakes, reports I am hearing say most places only have 3-4" of ice right now. \:\(

Actually snow on ice is not necessarily a bad thing if the ice is still fairly thin. With up to two or three inches I've seen it weight down the ice, cause the ice to crack and bring up water which hydrates the snow and refreezes and makes what we call "snow ice" on top of the clear ice. This adds thickness to the ice, and although snow ice is not as strong as clear blue ice it's still fairly strong.

Sounds a lot like ice desperation is setting in at your place!

13-14 inches here. \:\)

Don't remind me.

My day job just makes to much sense. At home, at the pond, I'm all about filling out 6 page forms iaw 120+ page procedures, so I can submit them, not to an actual person, but instead place them in a specific directory on a network drive, where they disappear without leaving me any proof that I ever submitted them, until 6 weeks later I receive an E-Mail from an acronym, not an actual person, that tells me I filled out block 147 on page 5 incorrectly and I must resubmit (all to change a page number on a form to keep track of my fish). I can hardly wait for the pond to freeze over, so I can go ICE-O-9000 fishing.

Wait a minute - did I type all that out loud?

I detect a non-conformity. The ICE-O police are on their way to the Gallus compound this very moment. Corrective action will be required with suitable evidence of successful implementation.

Sometimes I begin to feel guilty about all this water and all this ice when others have issues with both. Then I think about that -21 temp the other night and I am over it quickly!

Theo - De careful out there, the thought police don't need to hear it out load to know it!

The ice varied from 3-4" Saturday, I did manage to get a little bit of ice fishing in. Seven LMB and one BG in two hours, the bad thing is that I missed more fish than I caught. \:\)
