If you are stocking yellow perch into an existing relatively weed free pond that contains largemouth bass, experience has shown that the stocker perch should be at least 8" long. Otherwise you will probably never see any evidence of them after stocking and you will probably never see any offspring.
When stocking new fish into an existing pond, that has a relatively normal fish community, it is recomended that one remove some of the existing(competition) and similar sized fish so the new fish have a better chance of getting food to improve chances of survival.
