I had a 3 acre lake built in South Texas about 3 months ago. I have been filling it up with well water. It was filling up perfectly and then all of the sudden after 2 months and about 5 feet from being completely full, it started leaking very bad. It dropped about 6 feet in less than a week. I have continued to run water in and it is staying about the same depth.
I am supposed to have fish delivered next week. Any ideas? Thanks.

Ideas yes. Specifics no.
I assume you have a pretty good well to almost fill a 3 acre water hole. That also indicates the amount of the leak since you can only stay even. Six ft. over 3 acres is a whopping amount of water. My immediate thought is to cancel or delay the fish order. I personally think you will have to let it drain until you find the leak. I don't think it will improve.
Where in South Texas are you and what type of soils are you working with?
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I agree with DD, cancel the fish order, let it drain and deal with leak. This comes from my experience of ordering fish before the pond was ready...what a waste of $.
Your contractor should make it right. With that much water coming through, it should be fairly easy to find the problem area.
