I've never heard of them going 1,000 feet. My experience is that they will put in the first pole for free. That's 300 feet. After that, you are billed based on what's called a "load sheet" where they determine how much electricty you will use versus what it will cost for them to put it in.
My guess is it will be very expensive. You will have to clear a right of way for the power lines with 15 to 20 feet of open space on either side of the line. If you go underground, it's 30% more in my area and you will still need to have the land cleared for the trencher or tractor that they will use. In some cases, you can dig the trench yourself, but for high power lines, the power company will lay the wire.
They will run the power from the transformer. That is the distance they will measure from.
