I saw someone mention this in a past post but didn't see many replys. What have you tried that didn't work, broke down, floated away, etc?

1) Don't bother stocking HBG with BG. If you're going to have a HBG pond, great, get the lower reproduction benefit. If you're going to have BG, they will soon catch the HBG is size and overwhelm them in numbers.

2) Don't build a dock in December with wet treated lumber. It will only look good in Winter when it is wet.

3) Don't try to suck and then pump water through a 1" line with the ball valve closed.

4) DON"T WAIT 15 YEARS TO BUILD YOUR POND!

Don't build your first road around your first pond on your first time on a back-hoe on your first steep slope.

Don't get in a hurry to have a pond full of fish.

Don't try to treat FA with CU sulfate in a neted off area with low alka. where you have fish behind the net. They can't uptake O2. \:o

Don't under estimate the power of the suction of an 8in. pipe. \:\(

Don't stand behind a lime truck spreader or fish feeder when they go off. \:o

Don't try to seine grass carp or big fish in deep water.

Ric, it sounds like there is a story or 2 in that message.

Something like never taking a loaded front end loader sideways down a steep hill with the bucket raised.

No matter what a fish seller says, don't get in a hurry to stock bass, catfish or any other predator. You just might get lucky but you can't count on it.

Don't ever use green oaks for structure.

Think and post questions. Don't assume you have all of the answers. I keep finding that I don't even have all of the questions.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Bruce,

What's the reason behind inspecting the fatheads?

Bruce, I have about 200 lbs. of fatheads coming in about a month. I figure it may take around three months to look at each one before entry into my pond.

What kind of hourly rate could you give me to assist in the inspection of said fathead minnows, assuming that I provide you with unlimited DMD and JD?

Sunil - LOL I can just see you sorting minnows for three solid months. Where are you going to put 200 lbs of minnows?

Dudley- I have sort of figured what the Viagra is used for. What do I do with the $200? 40 years? I have been missing out! I never figured those kind of results! I calling my MD as soon as I figure out where to put the cash. \:D

This thread has deteriorated and I'm not responsible - I don't know whether to feel proud or envious.

I have decided exactly what not to do (at least as far as I am concerned). DON'T LEAVE THE FORUM FOR TWO WEEKS. You boys have gone crazy. From viagra to $200.00 call girls and dangling dozers to dangling "part"icles, I just don't know how to straighten ya'll out. \:D
Let me work on some therapy today, and I will get back to you.

Deb,
Yeah, ya know, I have noted the forum tilting toward the "dark side" a little lately. Although this tends to make me feel a little more at home, I don't think it was the original intent.

PS; it takes a pretty tuff dame to handle the pressure...you seem up to the task. ;\)

I have noticed that I have had that effect on several of the threads here. \:D
I am either a mother figure (ha), or I have a tendency to make everyone just want to disappear into another subject. Guess it really depends on which personality I am posting as right?

Dangling particles... what am I gonna do with you boys? ;\)

Debra- I wrote two replies to your first post above and they both sounded so juvenile I erased them before hitting add reply. The quality of the posting in this forum is "usually" so high it's a little intimidating to post too much fluff. Until I have more experience with ponds I am the fluff master. I have lined up my neighbors 3/4 acre, My sisters two acre, and my 1.3 acre ponds to take care of this summer so maybe I will gain some good experience. If it will only rain! (need a hope graemlin) \:\)

Uh-oh...I see the T Gallus wheels a-turnin'! I see mountains...no I see Alps. Yeah, and a little convent nestled into the base of the foothills! Hmmm...there's an innocent young nun...named, uh, Sister Maria...no, no, no...Sister Debbie. Yeah, Sister Debbie. Oh yeah, and she spends WAY too much time at the pond behind the convent...WAY too much time...you know, to the point that she gets assigned elsewhere to re-direct her focus. But where...hmmm.... THAT'S IT! She is sent to be Nanny to a group of wayward juveniles that also need direction! Yeah, wayward....what else? YES...their only guardian is policeman...no, not a policeman....A CAPTAIN!...no, not a captain...YES, A POND BOSS. Yes, THAT'S IT!!!...and his name will be Bruce...no, not Bruce.... No, something stronger...something braver...something commanding........GALLUS... VON GALLUS!
(quick, get me Rodgers and Hammerstein on the blower!) \:D
