Kind of late ice this year isn't it Wood? \:D

If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Ol' Wood is walking on water again. How big and deep is that pond? How old are the trout in that pond? Any scuds in that pond?

I will be lucky if I'm walking on water by Christmas.

ewest, yes we ice fish at night on local lakes for walleye, but mostly catch burbot.
Bill, pond is 180 feet x about 50 feet, currently holding 13 feet of water. Pond is now 4 years old, excavated with track hoe, very steep sides, one end is gradual slope to let the moose get out. Originally planted with rainbows which survived over two years, then winter killed in my absence. I did stock G.Lacustrus when the trout were about 14". I never saw a sign of them after that. The pond was fishless for over a year. When I returned to my property this summer, the pond was full of scuds. I now have about a dozen rainbows and some brookies.

I hope we get good ice this year and for more then a couple of weeks. My big pond is crystal clear and I have a really nice pop up ice shanty. Should be able to see any fish down there. If you've never watched fish under the ice while you're fishing it's a blast.

Hey Wood, put your hat on. It's cold outside.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Wood probably breaks out in a sweat if it gets up above freezing! \:D

Must be nice to have some ice. I spent a couple days last week in the 90's. Today it was 86.
