I agree with part of what he told you but not all. I agree that it is to cold for them to spawn but I disagree that there is no advantage to stocking them well before the BG.

One if there is food available they will grow a little and get acclimated to your pond. Two you will know that you have pre-spawn FH in the pond who will spawn ASAP when the conditions are ready at 64 degrees. No guessing about timing , water temps, their availability or other conditions. Three if you stock FH and 2-3in BG at the same time the FH will soon spawn and the new BG will start eating the first FH offspring while they are in the larval/fry stage . If on the other hand you stock the FH now or in a few weeks and stock the 2-3in BG a few weeks after the FH spawn the predation on the first FH spawn will be reduced and they will grow and be available for the LMB when they are stocked. Its those first few FH spawn offspring that are important to getting your small LMB off to a good start. This would change somewhat if you are stocking feed trained LMB.

I would put in a few pounds ( 5 ) of FH now and the rest as Lusk described. My opinion for what its worth.
