I just had to try this. I'm sitting on my deer stand using my blackberry and cruising pond boss. Now that is proof of a connected world. I don't even have a telephone out here. Maybe too connected!

Let no one question Gator's committment and loyalty. If I could draw, it would be one-frame cartoon of a camo-covered Gator sitting in a tree stand, feverishly focused and pecking at his blackberry while two 12 pointers stand below at the base of the tree. One buck says "Do ya think he takes it fishin', too?"

Alligator:This is Mr. 12 Point Buck. We have knocked Gator out of his tree stand and commandeered (no pun intended) his blackberry. In order to insure his unharmed release you will agree to the following demands...

1. You will send of 50 bags of Purina Deer Chow, nothing else will be excepted. We don't want any of that cheap K-Mart Deer Chow.

2. You will send us three, no make that five salt licks. And none of the substitute "I can't believe it's not salt" licks. We want the real stuff.

3. In the future Gator will only be allowed to hunt this area using nothing more that a rubber band gun. And none of those fat rubber bands, just the skinny, flimsy ones.

4. You will send more does, nice and friendly ones, with loose moral values.

Do not contact the police, the FBI, or the Game Warden. We will contact you later with additional details.

That one got my ribs hurting. I have been accused of too much cell phone time from the stand. I tell them I have to do the work and I for sure will not see the 12 pt. buck sitting in the office.

Hey Guys. Im back...something happened, must have fell out of my stand or something..er...uh...I woke up on the ground with a knot on the back of my head. My blackberry was halfway across the field. Lots of deer tracks around - but I dont recall seeing any deer. Boy my head hurts (I got to stop using my blackberry while hunting), maybe its my eyes from all this squinting.

I'm also guilty. I was in a deer stand this morning; going through paperwork. On the cell phone by 9:00. Not much surprise that I didn't see any deer. Well heck, I didn't see any yesterday (opening day) morning either.

Ah but, yesterday afternoon was a hugely memorable day.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.
