Catfish on the fly are a blast….until they get hook shy... \:\(

I’ve commented many times about mistakenly overstocking CC, and neglecting to harvest proper numbers, but we routinely catch them on fly tackle.

One evening last spring my wife hooked 15 CC and landed 7 on a five wt – in the 5 – 6# range.

With too many break-offs, I stepped up to my 9-wt striper rod and landed them more easily, but they are now getting 6 – 8 #’s and leader and hook shy.

If you are feeding, best flies are foam pellet flies and Bruce’s “pom-poms”, soaked in ground up pellets. Cecil’s “panty hose” flies work as well.

They will take you into the backing in a heartbeat.
Have fun... \:\)
