I'm very sorry to hear that sm. That's every pond bulider's nightmare.

After the water quits dropping, you should carefully examine the banks around the water's edge. You may just have 1 porous area that can be dug out and packed with clay. Look for holes and cracks that have washed out a bit.

If the pond empties totally, the porosity in in the deepest part, of course. If the water level stops but there are no seepage holes or cracks around the bank, then the water has dropped to the ground water level. (I would think not very likely in Kansas)
