ust had small pond cleaned out on a 'dry creek'. Ended up a big job with so much silt and nowhere but up to get rid of mud and dry, so there is no relation to an old pond, but is new, bigger and I hope much improved. This is my first time to throw in my hat to you guys, but I've been reading old threads on this site for 3 or 4 nights and am impressed with the comradery and the expertise.
the pond is about 1/2 acre, 20' at dam, followed by long and 1/2 again as wide 'tail' that will be average of 8' or so. Is it time for fh, bg, cc? That combo is what I plan, but am open for all advise. A couple of small rains here in cen. Tex. have put about 3' for a beginning. I'm ancy to start. thank you

Dave, what are you going to stock it with? You are pretty close to Ponds For Fun and Heybud. Glad to hear from you.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I think I'd wait until it was about half-full (depth-wise, at least) before putting in FHM. Hopefully that will be soon, but due to reports from many Texas PMs here I have come to respect the Texas weather's, shall we say, cantankerousness at delivering precipitation.

dave, thanks for your reply, Our place is located about 25 mi. north or Brownwood, near May and Rising Star, Tx. The pond is of great material and am told "will hold like a jug". The dam divides it from another pond about 3 acres, stocked with primarily lmb. I am considering fh and then bg for forage, and go with cc for main next spring. No cover, no structure in pond, just new clay/shale bottom and dam.

Theo, thanks, 2 light showers have put maybe 3' at dam, but watershed dry creek will fill to 1/2 with just one hard 3" or better downpour. Problem is we havn't had one of those lately. By the way where are Hey Bud and Ponds for Fun located? I have heard of a "fish guy" at Lake Proctor" that raises stockers, and will deal with him, as I've heard he is knowledeable.

HeyBud is at Zephyr and Ponds For Fun is somewhere around Brownwood.

The guy at Proctor is one of our friends. He is knowledgeable. Give him a call and tell him that the guys at Pond Boss sent you. He will make good recommendations and sell you good fish.

Bob, if you don't mind could you post the Proctor fish guy's name or email it to me. I have one pond that we just had cleaned out that has caught enough to add fh and or bg, I think.

davemc- welcome to pond boss neighbor. \:\) My pond is off the lake Brownwood to Bangs Cutoff about 25-30 miles from you. I have ordered fish from Proctor two times. Here is a list of 2006 AA members. The guy in Weatherford is new.

I appreciate the address, PondsFFun. Now that I've seen Harrell Arms name, I have heard it before. Chances are I've seen or met you also,
the Brownwood area being as it is. I work in Brownwood and have for years been "about town."
Thanks again for Harrell's info and for the site on the web, Dave
