Just as a point of comparison. I have both bahia and bermuda grass on my place and I prefer bermuda grass around my pond. As ML mentioned the root system on the bahia is really tough (and in my opinion) is not as smooth a ground cover. My bahia grass tends to clump up and is tough unless you keep it mowed.
