Dave, the red-headed nut heads peck holes to store their acorns in. 'Ya have to fill in their holes, else all the others see the holes and think, "this is place to store acorns!" Hope your band-tails stick around a while. I'd see 'em in the Sierras while fly fishing/squirrel hunting but they are justifiably nervous and don't stick around but a week or two. Wonder what their migratory pattern is? They make the 4 ta 5000' elevation bout 1st week October.
