We had a Northern Flicker all Summer. He drummed on our aluminum roof vents, announcing his presence, establishing his territory, and waking us up every morning around daybreak. Our master is on the second floor, right below his favorite. Then, after the young'uns were ready for the WP drum and bugle corp, they practiced on our roof, too. The adult would peck at one end of the house while junior sync'd at the other end. It was like a percussion audition for CDB.
