All this woodpecker talk reminded me of the mentally challenged Redheaded WPs in our neighborhood when we lived in town. It was very common to hear the distinctive sound of them pecking away on steel TV antenna masts. I didn't quite believe it until I actually saw one trying to get bugs out of a 1" pipe next door.
