My pond is located in Raceland, LA. Earlier this week I found my first floater as well. It was a large mouth bass though. I don't know how fast they normally grow, but it was 8 1/2" long and stocked in mid January of this year as a fingerling. Anyway, since we both had the same problem, I think it must have something to do with all the rain that we recently received. My pond is 1/4 acre. It was about 3-4 feet low until last weekend when it totally filled up. A couple days after that is when I noticed the dead bass. I guess that's not too bad of a trade off...1 bass for a few feet of water, but if more fish start dying, I'm going to get real nervous.
