Be careful!
Doesn't it frost you when wifie says, "Be careful" as you head out the door? :rolleyes: Mine said that as I was going to cut the grass today. I replied, very cleverly, I thought, "Nah. I don't feel like being careful today. I'm going to do something reckless and stupid, like slide the lawnmower down the back of the dam." Showed her, didn't I? :p

When I came in a few minutes ago, she asked why I was so long after dark getting back to the house. I, of course, told her that cutting in the dark was the reason the mower has headlights and that it's much nicer to cut when it�s cool.

Funny, I forgot to mention that I got jest a leeetle too close to the back berm edge, and the mower started sliding off when it moved. The more I tried to back out, the more the #@*!! thing slid ever so slightly toward the pit of perdition. To make matters worse, I put on the parking brake when I eased myself off the thing, and it stuck so that I couldn't get it off without pushing the dagnab machine even further off the edge when I returned with the 4-wheeler and chain after an invigorating walk. So, the 4-wheeler only spun in place, and the mower slid just a little further over. Took my big green pal, Mr. Deere, to do the job, and once the strain was off, the parking brake released easily.

I know I should have admitted it to her. Any decent person would. But, I feel better now, less guilty, cause I�ve told you, and you won�t be around to remind me for the next ten years of how stupid I was this time. Telling you is just as good, isn't it? Well, isn't it???

Telling us is BETTER than telling your wife. The worst that can happen here is that zillions of people can log onto this site and read about your folly. It can become internet legend (too bad you don't have video.) Fortunately we have a policy sort of like Las Vegas... What happens in Pond Boss stays in Pond Boss.

I meant to post that Jeff's post was really funny, but I must have edited his post as opposed to replying to it with quotes. Sorry about that Jeff. I didn't intend to edit your post, just wanted to say it made me laugh.

Dam! I thought jeff had gone on a cursing binge and Bruce had to really moderate someone. I was carefully reading the post trying to figure out what cuss words were deleted. Then I looked down and saw Bruce's next post! What a disappointment!

I don't get it.

All seriousness aside, I kept reading Jeff's "disclaimer" real fast like one of those radio car commercials. It was hilarious.

No such luck Ponds, I have to be off my pills for three or four days before the cursing binges start...

On a more serious note, by now everyone has probably heard that Steve Irwin was killed in Australia today by a stingray barb that pierced his heart. None of us can be too careful when it comes to the unexpected around our ponds. Be it a tractor rollover (Which happens way to often) or finding that pissed off cottonmouth underneath the old johnboat. Hats off to JayMan for making sure his little one has her life jacket on when feeding the fish. Let's all leave happy memories with our friends and families of our pond adventures. Safety should always be first.

Jersey, did they ever get that Link Belt out of there? I had an embarassemnt several years ago. We had a cold winter with thick ice. I began using my skid loader to plow the pond. My wife tells me it's not smart to drive that on the ice. Well it worked that winter. The next winter I tried the same thing. Got the same warning. Went out to plow one day and she got worried when it got dark and I wasn't back. Well the ice cracked, the skid loader was going down, I hooked the tractor to the skid loader, tractor got stuck trying. Then hooked the dozer up to tractor. My wife shows up just in time to see me with the dozer pulling the tractor pulling the skid loader out of pond. She said if I would have drowned pulling a stupid stunt like that she would have killed me. And no, I don't have pictures!

Lou, that is one of the stupidest stunts I've ever heard of. However, not the stupidest. It's maybe number 364 and I own numbers 1 through 363.

Wait a minute. I remember something about Cecil and a van. I don't have all 363.

At the convention next year, I'll tell you the story of "Theo and the Chainsaw".

The strange part about that track-hoe is that I took this picture one day, and he next day it was gone. There was no evidence of another machine being on site. I mean the ground next to it wasn't scratched up, and there are no trees around that are big enough to pull against. The motor was under water, so it didn't get itself out, not that it could have anyway. All kidding aside, I sometimes wonder if it's still down there. It was a brand new rental.

How do you like this one? This is a D10 dozer. They actually managed to get the machine off the side of the wall and drove her on down and kept working.
