I have been thinking of building a 10x12 shed by my pond to store fish food and other pond equipment. I have been thinking of a design that would look like
an old building from the old west with a small porch on the front to sit and watch the pond and have a few cold ones. Has anyone built anything like this?

I don't have a pic but saw one that a guy used old cedar fence wood for the outside. He said it was hard to beat the price of the materials. FREE!

Here's a floorplan for a cottage that they rent at a campground I saw that's pretty neat. The entry door could be moved so the front porch overhangs the edge of the pond.

I used to try to hide the Cabela's catalog so my wife wouldn't have any idea about the kind of things I was spending money on. Now I get the big 3" thick edition that has EVERYTHING in it. She was looking through this last Spring and saw the cabins (IIRC they run up to $30k or more), and said she thought it would be nice to have one of them at our pond "to get away from it all" (The pond is 200 yards from the house).

Now I have to hide the catalog for a different reason.

This isn't the best pic of it but its the only one I have on PhotoBucket. We have a pumphouse with a deck and roof in the foreground that blends into a longer exposed deck and finally into a hip-roofed boathouse(with the floodlights). I'll take more pics and post them if you're interested.

I was thinking of building one that had runners underneath that would double as an ice fishing shanty in the winter. Just slide it out on the ice when the ice is safe.

Or actually build one as part of the pier that had some hinged doors in the floor that I could ice fish through. I'm sure it's been done.

This place is located in Cleburne Tx, they deliver cabins of various sizes. they have nice screened Gazebos also.

Better idea; why don't you tell me what happens? He and his brother have taken up residence next to one another down there. Thats a full grown Monarch he's making look like a fly.

WE have insectologists(I know, a spider is not an insect) making spiders dance...dragonflies lighting on their finger...any other tricks? Only on PB.

That looks like what we used to call Lemon Spiders when we were kids. In my experience they're pretty mild-mannered and inoffensive; a big one won't last 30 seconds in a paper cup match with a much smaller Wolf Spider.

We called them "Garden spiders". They're pretty wimpy, but tell that to a ten year old who finds himself in a road ditch surrounded by hundred of them. I've never recovered emotionally.

I believe that's a black and yellow argiope. My son (8 yrs old) finds them and puts them in the bushes by our front window and door. They make some nice webs with a little zig-zag pattern in the middle. He also feeds them grasshoppers and tosses them into the web every few days to watch them eat...a real graphic lesson in predator-prey relationships. I'll see if I can get him to try to make one dance!

Here is some info on them for those that have arachnophobia and are afraid to touch one on the back. Basically when you touch them on the back, you can use a small twig if you can't bring your self to do it, they will start osolating the web back and forth very rapidly.

Big frog I must still have a lot of kid in me because I too spend a lot of time feeding mine grasshoppers, it's amazing to watch them attack and spin their web around a kicking grasshopper and render him helpless.

The only thing more fun is throwing the grasshopper on a fly rod and watching one of my catfish render him helpless.

Dang, that is one nasty looking spider, I don't care if he can dance, sing or perform stand up comedy, I'd keep well away of that ugly monster.
