FMc...2-4-D has been in use for a long time in and around ponds and fields as a selective herbicide. It is relatively inexpensive and can be found in co-ops and many other places. I find it works similarly to glyphosate, but does not have the problem of some of the glyphosate brand surfactants. Glyphosate is non-selective, though. What, in particular are you looking to control?

I believe I read that granular version is no longer sold...but could be wrong. Maybe someone will clarify.

Correct, DIED, I just edited my post. 2-4-D is selective, whereas glyphosate kills everything.

Water primrose is one of the easy ones. Most anything will be effective on it. 2-4-D may be the cheapest. If you dont have very much and cant find 2-4-D in small quantities, Ortho brush killer(tricopyr) or Eliminator brand weed killer(glyphosate) both at Walmart will do a good job. Put some liquid detergent in the mixture to make it stick and spread out on the leaves better. I know some will say it must be labeled for pond use, which increases the cost. Your choice.

Hi fatty; I seen the same add. I brought a #5 box for $69 it was to cover only 4000ft.For me that was good because I wanted slective killing. Well it killed all the weeds, I guess the weeds are all connected with there root system, but that was o.k. wtih me.Pond is now weed free, but a lot of algie from the die off.

2-4-D is used as a broad leaf herbicide. It is actually a groth acelerator. It makes the plant go through its entire growth cycle in 7-10 days and therefore it does not have the time needed to polenate. If 2-4-D is used sparenly, one can expect curled leaves yet no complete die off.

Jimmy, that is expected since the plant you killed tying up the nutrients before. Now that the nutrients are free floating, the only plant there to use them is the algae.
