My pond is about 600feet from the house, but this year the field around the pond is planted in corn. We left a small lane down the middle of the field which is also a swale for run off that has corn on both sides. The lane seems longer than 600 foot, with the corn close then it opens to the ponds in the middle of the field its kinda cool. When I am home I make the walk several times a day, when I am at work I make the lil wife make the walk several times a day so I can have a pond update! We have been thinking of putting our land on the market and moving to NNY. I have found a lot of farms that have multiple ponds on them!

Thirty yards out the front door.....It's great. It was what I was looking for when I retired.

Pretty lucky!

Well I've finally made the move up to Washington. Now instead of being 22hrs of driving away from the pond (Nevada to Washington) I'm only about 30 - 45 minutes away. Now if I can just land a teaching job I can start to build a house on my property and be only meters away! Now that I'm a lot closer I'm sure more questions will follow.

I guess our 3.5 acre pond is pretty close to the house. I would say 40 feet.

It's pretty hard sitting on the porch drinking the morning coffee and taking all of this in;

House about 10 feet give or take from pond. http://rockytoppers.com/the_pond.htm

Rather than commute to the pond I chose to commute to work every day about an hour one way.

The latest project at bottom of page will have the house about 20 feet from ponds edge to front porch. This project is 3 miles from my home place.

Whoa now, HeyNow...nysch package!
If possible, can you give me some details regarding the aqua-gazebo. Stuff like the foundation, framing members (particularly underwater), is it totally in the drink, water depth below, any issues with the shingles re; moss growth, anything you would have done different. You know, the basics....like tell me how to build one. ;\)

I feel your pain.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Brettski,

Bought the house as it is a couple of years ago. Depth of water in front of the gazebo is about four feet. The foundation is pretty thick, I'd guess 3 feet and I'll bet it has plenty of fill surrounded by concrete. Eight support posts along with a center concrete filled steel lally column supports the roof structure. Pretty basic gazebo! No moss growth on the shingles..it is even facing north. On the side is a fenced in area that we keep young fish in (Koi) and when they get large we release them. Hope this helps.

Here is a pic from the front porch. The previous owner did a great job.
