That sure is a bright color for a John Deere! Here's my wife Carol placing some pine bark mulch for me on a small landscape project we just finished. I gave her the choice between hand raking mulch or placing it with the JD. Guess which one she chose?

By the way, our 2 acre pond below the house is visible in the background here ...

I don't know how much tractor experience you may have but you might want to take a look at the Trophy Plot Maker I have on the back of the JD. It's designed to be pulled with an ATV (which I also do) but it's equally handy on the tractor with a 3-point attachment. It'll disc, seed and drag in one operation. Everything from the finest Bermuda grass seed all the way up to whole kernel corn and larger.

V nice stuff, Wicked...you are one serious land developer. Congrats on the new toy! What's next? A solar powered bass boat?

i was looking at your plot maker that would be very handy.i like your landscaping is that different levels it looks like it in the pic. brettski no more solar powered projects for now, my current project is a new aeration system i will post pics when i get started.

I had an area of grass on a slope that had died three times. It had been seeded with the entire 7 acres of grass at the same time in the fall of 2004, and 95% of that lawn has done just fine. So I excavated approx 15 feet out from the house which was at a level about 2-1/2 feet lower. I then made the transition by dropping 10" on the first two levels and a little over 12" on the final one where we are back to grade.

Thank goodness for the tractor because the drought we're experiencing here again this year has made the top 18" of sandy loam harder than I'd care to try to dig by hand.

By the way, that Trophy Plot Maker is made 7 miles from here in Bonham, Texas. Here's a pic of it attached to the ATV and up on the trailer after just returning from another property we have 5 miles north of here where I had done some work around another pond that morning.

I like the new toy. We have a 42 hp Kubota and always wished we had bought a 4x4....

Where did you buy it from. My wife bought me that same tractor last year for my birthday. The only differences is that I had a Woods brand front end loader on it and she had the aluminum roof put on for me. Makes it nice during the middle of the day. She bought mine from Henderson Implement in Welsh but it actually came from the Lake Charles store.

I have a 2 year old New Holland TC35, but nearly bought the 'Bota. Sometimes I wish I would have.

I've been pulling a 2 yard earth mover about 6 hours a day with a friend's Kubota M 125X, and really enjoy it. The Kubota's I've seen have been bullet proof.

Your box blade looks very heavy duty. What brand is it?

thanks, i love it i used my dads john deere for a month and there is no comparison the kubota is so much better. the box blade is made by modern manufactoring out of beaumont. its pretty beefy i also bought a bush hog and middle buster by modern. they sell them at henderson implement there is one in welsh. i got the 5 foot bush hog and box blade and middle buster for 1600.00 and they are galvanized.

The roof was put on at the dealership before I picked it up. Don't really remember what the price was because my wife used to work at Henderson's in Welsh and got a discount. I also got the Modern 5 foot bush hog. As a matter of fact, I had to replace the shear bolt last week after hitting a stump.

Great so far...no problems at all. I only have about 3.5 acres that I have to cut. Actually, after this last cut and clearing, I won't have anything to cut for a while. I am having my pond dug out and bigger so all that dirt will be spread out over the 3.5 acres. I'll have to plant me some bermuda grass whenever I get home from offshore and won't have to bush hog again until that grows up enough to cut. I know you've told me before, but where in Sulphur do you live?

i live north of sulphur about half way between sulphur and dequincy. i am off of anthony ferry rd

Nice tractor. You won't be sorry for getting the Kubota. You should have many many years of reliable work out of it and if you do ever sell it, it will keep a good re-sale value. I like the tops...they are worth the money, IMO.

A couple of other attachments that you might find useful are the post hole digger and a disc. If fence building, the post hole digger will pay for itself, quickly. If you buy a disc, don't get those cheap ones because they will wear out the bushings in no time. Get a heavy duty disc and it will provide years and years of service.

MEADOWLARK hopefully i am finished with my fence building. i plan on planting a garden next year so i will be buying a plow for sure.

Keith was smart to buy a cutter with a shear pin instead of with the Mickey-Mouse slip clutch that Modern supplies with the cutter. (a drive shaft with a decent slip clutch = about $700.00) Also, keep the blade shaft free of material winding around it or you'll be replacing the lower gearbox seal sooner than you would expect.
