It's probably the birds...they are preparing a nice home for the green sunfish & mudcats they are about to bring in
Seriously, I believe there is a LOT of stuff in the soil...just lying there waiting, for the time to be right. I had cattails spring up immediately after my pond caught water...along the old dry creekbed I built over.
