My wife came running in the house last night about 10, I was in bed and she was taking the dogs out before she came to bed. She came in scared as hell, I'm not talking a little bit, really scared. We have about a 7'+ alligator in our pond, he lives right at our back fence in a drainage pipe, its about 20' from our fence which is just a gator fence, 3' high. Well he must have been bellowing, and loudly. She had no idea what it was. I got on the comp and showed her what one sounded like. So of course we sat out back on the patio to see if he would do it again, we waited about 15 mins to no avail. It must have been really loud because she thought it was in the back yard, it was funny her clinging to me as we went through the yard with a flashlight.

By the way, I rarely see the words "alligator" and "fun" in the same thread heading.

It's just like anything else, just have to show respect. Him and I meet almost every evening, at the end of the pipe where he lays in the water is blocked by brush from view, so I am with in 10' of him when we see each other, I just tell him in a calm voice to go away, and with a big splash he goes into the pipe. Pipe is right beside little clearing on end of pond, my favorite fishing spot. Its obvious nobody has ever given him food, hes as scared of me as I of him, just as it should be. Almost all problems with gators is when not very smart people think its neat to feed them. Trust me, been around them also, they are not fun, they come straight to you with no fear. Ran into one of them last week on a job site i was looking at, about the same size as mine. He made you back away from pond, if you were close, he would start to come out of water at you. Threw a small stick to him and he snatched it out of the air. Thems no fun.
