We have just built a new pond! Woo Hoo! it is about 4 acres. We have had no rain, and it is not filling up since the hot tempertures have arrived. We live in Georgia (hot and humid). We are pumping to it from our creek and the its like running a water hose in it. Is that smart or stupid? We have about three springs that feed to the pond but the water level has dropped in the past 2 weeks with no rain. Is pumping that small amount like tinkling in the ocean, or will it be successful until rain comes? How long do new ponds usually take to fill up in the summer time?

You have to use the Full Reply Form, at the bottom you will see image, keep in mind, you must host your picture some place as in photo bucket and just copy and past the url from that location.

Some ponds can take up to a year or two. Do not be in a hurry, the problem with pumping in a creek you may get unwanted spieces of fish, Unlikely depending on the pump but probable. $ acres with any depth could take a while take this time to add structure and things such as rocks and things. after it gets full you will also wish you took a lot of pics. Have fun with each stage.
