Oh man the shirt picture made me spit coffee all over my screen!
You know our ponds have changed a lot about the way I look at things. The ponds were built for 1 reason! The shallow pond was to be a flood and shoot waterfowl impound to hunt over, and for late season returning fowl to have a stop over so they could eat some high protein food for the trip north. The deep pond was the water supply for the impound. As the ponds perked life into our land I found my feelings about things changing. The deer, ducks GEESE, song birds, frogs and turtles just popped up like flowers. Well I added fish to the pond and watched it changed as the ecosystem came on line. Then what we wanted most happened���waterfowl���lots and lots of waterfowl! I waited until we had a lot and then started hunting them and hunt them we did. After the last shoot which was a blood bath the fowl stayed away by and large for two months. Man I really missed my ducks and geese pitching into our ponds. Now I have nesting boxes and goose floats, I will not fish for my bass as they have become pets, and I am stealing frogs! I find myself gravitating to my ponds several times a day when I am on shore and do strange things like plant pond lilies, and bog plants, put up blue bird boxes WTF I was a stone cold KILLER!. I have made a vow to only shoot our impound a few times a year to control the resident geese and have made the property a bow hunting only zone. The shallow impound is turning into a grow out pond for frogs and BG, and I am considering building more ponds to grow fish! I am not sure what�s happened to me but I love it! My hunting buddies think I have lost my mind and I have a goose/duck hunting paradise but it is now for the most part off-limits to hunting! In the future our land will be sold,and now any property has to have PONDS big happy ponds!
