Most people i ask think about the same as you - You can plant and hunt over the planted field, but cant manipulate the crop in any way except what happnes during a normal harvest.

I tried reading the formal regulations. IMO, it would take 6 lawyers and a year to figure out all the formal regulations. (No offense to lawyers)
