Yes you can change the diaphragn without taking down the tower. Obviously the higher the tower the more difficult it becomes. Make sure you tie down the fan so it is not wanting to turn while you are up there on a ladder. Also tie the head so it will not swivel in a wind gust. Try to get some anti-sieze grease to put on the bolts when you reinsert them so next time they come out easier. While up there make sure that you grease the pivot tube. Now you will learn why I say an electric, rotary vane, air compressor is easier and quicker benchtop maintainence than a windmill. Need a diaphragm and check valves? I have them reasonable.
