Here is some good new on Threadfin Shad. Friday I took a drive down to Overton's Hatchery to visit with Todd & pick up 20 lbs. of Tilapia. While I was there Todd threw a dozen threadfin shad into his display tank and we watched them get devoured. I expressed my interest in them and we discussed my 4 hour drive, and how well last years transport went. That's when he got this "look" in his eye, and wanted to play "Myth Busters". He loaded me up a FREE box of Threadfins and I took off. 4 hours later I reached my pond, changed a flat on the ranch truck (it's the only vehicle that can reach my pond) These fish were bagged and boxed, the pictures tell the rest of the story ! Not a single fish died, and they looked like they could have gone another 4 hours. Next year when I visit Todd again in April, I'll buy !

A lot can be said about transporting fish in a plastic bag jammed tight with oxygen. When originally stocking my pond I purchased fish in Bangkok and had a nine hour drive to my pond up country, doing this on three different occasions. Total time of the fish in the bag exceeded 10 hours and never lost any in transport. I often buy tilapia to supplemental feed and they are always packed in plastic bags with 100 3-5 inch fish per bag,the entire evolution is around one to two hours for packing transport and release always without die off.
