General question: there are many fishing ponds around where I live, and some have been (or are being) treated with aluminum sulfate. I know that chemical is not toxic to the fish, but are those fish safe to eat?

Aluminum sulfate is used in water treatment plant all over the country so I would assume that the fish are safe to eat. It is also used in small quanties for pickling, you can find alum in the spice section in grocery stores.
