The fact is that he may have discovered something that nobody else knows. Kinda funny how salesmen can do that.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Depending on location RES can spawn more than once a year. In more northern climes 1, in deep south 2 is not unusual ,in south Fla more of a continious rolling spawn Feb. - summer. They do not spawn as much nor are as productive as BG though. In the lab with right photo period and water temps. as much as you want depending on fish condition.

I hadn't thought of a rolling spawn. In those cases, I think that can give the appearance of multiple spawns when they may or may not occur. I've often wondered whether the last spawn had the success rate of the first. I wouldn't think so but have never seen documentation.

I know more than one spawn sometimes happens in warmer climes. Although not really noteworthy, I think these are more the exception than the rule. In my mind, that doesn't qualify a seller to make a blanket statement.

Thought I would bring up this topic again to add info. This year I have been keeping close watch on the BG and RES spawn times. Due to early season hot then cold temps the BG are a little off their normal schedule but close. Only the April (the second) spawn was off about 7 days (late). Other than that event each month there has been a BG spawn peaking on the full moon (March , April , May and June).

The RES normally will spawn twice March and April. They started off that way this year. However the RES (or some of them but more than just a few) also spawned on the full moon in May and the week after the full moon in June. It looks a little like a rolling RES spawn this summer. Unusual and worth watching. It may be a result of adding RES and growing them out last fall at 2-3 inches behind a blocking net. However both ponds had the same fish added but only 1 of them has exhibited the rolling RES spawn.
