One thing to keep in mind is that any pressure treated lumber that sits outside in the weather for any length of time will become very hard. You will probably have to drill pilot holes just to drive nails in it. Also, all of the piers that I have built have been built after the lake was full and I secured the bank posts in concrete and the lake posts are just sitting on the bottom of the lake. I usually attach a 5 gallon bucket to the bottom of lake posts so I could move them around easier in the water. I have never had a problem with the lake posts settling very much.
