Let me know if you're interested. Apologies to Deb, if I'm tromping on your sales. Tim How big do the frogs get? I could come up there and get some if you want....SURE!! I just thought DEB had some special REALLY big ones..

[/QB][/QUOTE] B/P, I've got wild bullfrogs, unless someone secretly blessed me with a hybrid strain. They get big, takes both hands to hold a nice one. My pond is spring fed, the water's still a little cool. Last years B/F tadpoles should be making their appearance this week, with the warm weather we're getting. I'll let you know.
I'll wait till Deb replies about her "special REALLY big ones". I'm too old a dog to strike that trail!!!

Go for free BP. Our frogs are giant american bullfrogs, but they do occur in the wild (not a hybrid). My job on this forum is not in sales but rather information. Get the free ones by all means. Sounds like the same species. Good luck with them. They are my favorite creature (Ryan's nickname is Tadpole ) Deb

Deb- I can cut the flow from the defuser in half easily just by a simlpe adjustment & can lower the height from the water top to it so that will slow up all the turbulance.I may just shut it down & run the airstone alone till the water temp gets alot higher. I am still just barely 50 degrees here in Ohio. The tanks only get direct sunlight for 4 hr. each morning.

Yeh I would at least raise the height. In your situation the tads can easily be beaten to death by too much flow. You could get by with just the airstone for awhile. I am really glad to see all the excitment over frogs. Makes me realize I am not a freak in that I adore them so much.

Deb...I am fairly new and saw these messages about frogs. My pond has a ton of bullfrogs. Quite a few bigger than my hand. My pond is very low right now and I have tadpoles out the WAZOOS !! They have been around since last year. How long will they stay tadpoles?? I can take my boat paddle and stir up 50-60 in one or two paddles. They are everywhere. I have noticed alot of cranes around the pond the last couple of days. I am sure they are feasting.

Deb- do the Cranes & Blue Herrings prefer Tads or are they more likely to go after the frogs? I do have one Blue Herring that visits my pond daily. I have always tried to keep him chased out but he always returns. There are 12 ponds within 3 miles of mine & this is just another place he stops by each day.

Deb, I just added 25 bullfrog tadpoles to my pond in Central Texas. Someone told me that not much will eat a tadpole, but when they become frogs they get gobbled up pretty fast. They are in a two acre pond wiht bass, blue gill etc. What are the odds of them making it?
In Dog Beers, I've had one.
