Deb, keep in mind that with most organisms perception is always expeirenced in a multi-modal fashion. Sight, sound, taste, touch, and smell are all part of the total cues going on in the enviroment that a might attract a fish. A hormone or pheromone by itself might attract some curiosity but without the visual clues of say a female BG, it might not be enough to actually trigger the re-action you are looking for. It is the sum of "all" of the sensory cues going on that determines whether something attracts or repels a fish.
BTW - Wearing a little bit of "Old Chum" followed by invitation to go out to dinner at Red Lobster might actually work with some women.
