ewest, thanks for the information. I will be the first to admit I have a ong way to go. Heck, I haven't even started. I can only assume the bass were from my stocking as the first Summer we did not see or catch a bass. By the beginning of last Summer, we started seeing bass about 8' in length and caught the 1st bass in July that was 10". In September and October, everything we caught was within 2" of each other. By late October, all bass caught were between 16.5" and 18" and weighed between 2.5lbs to 3.3lbs.
The sample was not that large. We maybe caught 25 bass all season because I did not intend to keep them. We kept only about half a dozen in Oct as they were too good to pass up.
I definitely think you may be right about the catfish though. The size difference between the 2 we did catch leads me to believe there may have been some there already. It has only been in the last two months that the catfish have started coming to the feeder.
I definitely need to be more scientific about my surveys and log book. I just figured I wouldn't have to worry about it the 1st year and honestly, I didn't find you guys until mid Summer of last year. I will change my ways this year.
