H2O - How long is this fish? It looks to be about 3"-4" long. It resembles a creek chub and a couple of the other similar looking species of chubs. Are you sure these are reproducing in your pond?. Do you have smaller young of the year fish from these? Is it your pond that has underground springs feeding it? This might help explain reproduction.

To verify the species I would like to have one of these fish pickled. Put a live one into some straight vodka, gin or wiskey. The higher the proof the better. Let it soak in booze for a couple days, remove the fish wrap in a damp booze soaked towel, put it in a small box and send it to me. Bill Cody, PO Box 64, Malinta OH 43535-0064. I'm sure you will get plenty of suggestions of what to do with the booze that the fish soaked in for a couple days. Maybe the South Central meeting of PB members would sample it and guess the vintage. There is an algae professor near me that to belong to his pond club you have to drink some of his lily pond water. I am not a member, I know what is in pond water and so does he. Most members are drunk when they join his club. ;\) No dead students yet at his place!. When they throw up around the pond,I don't know if it is from the booze or the pond water.

PS Way to go Bruce you are my hero. I don't listen to what everyone else says about your bad habits.
