Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations American Fisheries Society meetings

This is the time of year when most of the American Fisheries Society chapters hold their meetings. Many people here on the forum would enjoy attending these meetings, even if we're not professionals. Dave Willis can comment on this better than I.

I've been to AFS meetings in Florida and the Dakotas. Even to a beginner like me, these meetings were interesting. Many of the subjects covered don't apply to our lakes but are still interesting. It is also fun to meet the different professionals in the field.

This year, Nebraska and the Dakotas will have a joint meeting at Chamberlain, SD. The dates are Feb. 27 & 28 and March 1st. If someone would like to go with me, we could meet here in Sioux Falls and drive out to Chamberlain together. You can e-mail me, post here on the web or call me at 605-366-3552.

Luckily for me, I'm almost done with my secret side project. Yes....you guessed it!

A time machine.

I mean anyone can raise some perch in a bucket, but a time machine, that's like (5) on a scale of 1 to 10!

More power to the AFS but did anyone know they have fish culture publications? I think this would interest many of you more than the pubs on open systems.

Most states also have aquaculture associations and they have fish culturists etc as members. Many even have pond resource info for recreational ponders.

I knew that and have looked at some of the articles. They have a bunch of sections also. It is worth looking around the AFS web site at all the options. The aquanic sites are good also but I have trouble with the search function. I think I need to try them some more to get use to them.

CB1 those links above are great. I have not found them on the aquanic system. A lot of them are also on the RAC sites like SARC. Now I need to find out why my previous attempts to use aquanic did not work well.
