Greg: How well does the fiberglass hold up over time? I'm specifically wondering how well it would work left at pond and fully exposed to sun virtually 24/7/365. Thanks! Jeff

Jeff no 100% sure of sunlight potential. However the manufacture will tell you stories of clients who use them to float creeks for years beating the bottom the whole time.

They are (most of the time) made with many layers of fiberglass. I will try to get answer about sunlight effects. I had one we used a few times in pond work, basicaly new. We took it down the river it had a hole about half way down after hitting a few rocks, had to pail water for awhile with a 9 yr old with us. ANyway I did not say this but planned to never sell the boats anymore I was ticked. The manufacture not only was visibiily upset with it he apologized like crazy and said for a short time had a bad employee making the boats and after looking it was according to vin # at that time. He gave me a free boat and thought they made a bad situation a good one. They have excellent customer service. I have sionce taking them down river scratched the heck out of 'em and you can hardly tell. If I can just get them to create a website then adevertise with PondBoss.

IIRC In general, no specific pertinance to boats, fiberglass which is exposed to weather requires a periodic recoating with the appropriate resin or protective paint.

I ruined a little Bassbuster. I stored it upside down on sawhorses and the UV rays ate the bottom. No, I didn't know to periodically recoat or protect it in any way.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I just spoke with Riverhawk. Sunlight will not ruin integrity of boat but over time it will fade in color. They are made a minimum of 1/8 inch thick. You can add UV inhibitors to protect color.
