How many of you pond managers have a bass boat that you use on public lakes? Do you find that you get enough use out of the bass boat to legitimately rationlize owning it? Please explain your lifestyle if responding (ie: married, working, retired, kids, etc.)
The reason I ask is because I'd love to have a bass boat to take out on larger waters, but I don't know how often I'd use it. Assuming my pond was currently stocked with catchable sized fish, is it logical to think I'd be fishing both my pond and local lakes? I don't live at the property with the pond. It's 80 miles from home.
If I go out on the boat 10 times a year it would be worth it to me. Any of you pond managers have some words of wisdom here? I don't want to make such a larger purchase ($8,000-$10,000) and then find out it's going to sit unused year-round.
I have a 2 year old daughter and a second child is in our plans for the near future. I could take the 2 year old out on the boat, but I doubt I'd be able to do any serious bass fishing with a 2 year old. It would be great fun though!
