I know the people who developed them and trust them from my prior dealings on other fish. I have 200 8 in. tiger bass going into 2 ponds this friday in my ongoing expir. on improving LMB aggressiveness/catchability.

ewest, I have just stocked Coppernose and Fatheads in a new lake. I will put bass in sometime next May or June. Would you recommend stocking F1's or some ratio of Northerns and Floridas in order to create my own F1's? If so what percentage of each would you recommend?

It depends on what you want as your pond goals. Our goal on these ponds is a balanced fishery with the "chance" to catch large BG/RE and LMB. The goal is not to grow trophy BG/RE or LMB . With that in mind we try to get and maintain, as to LMB, some pure Northerns some pure Fla's and some mixes ( F1 ,F2...Fx). If I was starting with a predator empty southern pond (north of Florida and south of a line from Okla. City to Richmond Va.) with a strong forage base I would go with 50% northern, 30 % F1 tigers and 20% Flas. I would harvest LMB at a rate of 110% of the amount needed to stay in balance so that every 2-3 years I could safely add some LMB at a rate of 70% pure northerns , 20% F1's tigers and 10% pure Flas. But most of all -- water quality and forage base-- without that you can't grow anything well. I also try to get fish from a trusted source and from the general area to be stocked ( don't get fish from Florida and stock them around Dallas - they need to be locally acclimated)}

This is what I would do and I am not suggesting that this is what you should do. Good luck. ewest

Broncofan, I reside in central Mississippi and stocked fingerling Tiger Bass in my new pond this past June 14th which were approx. 2" long. I've pellet fed them from the get go and most are now in the 10-12" size. Of course they also have flatheads and small Bluegill fingerlings to snack on.
