This year we have had a threadfin shad explosion on Lake Vilbig ( www.lakevilbig.org ). I am used to seeing a lot of shad but this year has been exceptional.

They are billions of them all over the lake. I can throw a cast net anywhere on the lake and catch them. At night we can take a spot light out and see them near the surface on every square ft. of our 130 acre lake.

I think the shad have also taken the pressure off our bluegill because there seems to be more bluegill this year too.

Has anyone else noticed an abnormally high amount of shad on their lake or pond too?
