I come up with 39526 yards being moved out of the 7 acre area. I can only assume that some of that dirt will be used for the dam?

Most of the red clay dirt that is in the core and the dam came from places other than what will be the bottom of the pond. The dirt in the pond area for the first few feet was sandy or grey/brown clay. Under this is good hard clay. You want pictures? I got pictures. This is from the dam looking back at the shallow end My truck on the dam Looking from the shallow end to the dam Another good shot
Wish me luck.

Poseidon,
Will there be a road around the pond?
Nice project, my pond was built in a similar situation.

Also,
Have you seeded your dam or otherwise put something on it to prevent it from washing out?

There will not be a road around it. The road you see in the pictures is temporary. It will be seeded this week.
Wish me luck.

All goofin' aside, it's a great looking project. You gotta be pumped, big time. Which is your home or homesite? Is the other neighbor part of the project?

Mine is the one with the red roof. The guy in the other house is also part of the project. He will be moving in in the next couple of weeks. I will feel lucky to be in my house by February.
Wish me luck.

Sorry it too so long to get the latest pictures. The dam is finished and the two 12" siphons are installed. The pond itself is about half way dug out. The recent rain stopped progress for a couple of days and the mud, I mean MUD slows the guys down considerably.
Wish me luck.
